Ambaar
Desktop download manager whose engine verifies itself. Every downloader breaks a few weeks after you install it — YouTube changes its player, the yt-dlp engine underneath goes stale, and nothing tells you. Ambaar checks weekly, then proves the new engine works before trusting it: it resolves a real media URL and fetches the first two kilobytes. A 403 there means signature deciphering is broken, so the previous working version is restored automatically. Packaged builds update by unpacking the yt-dlp wheel to the user data directory, since a frozen app has no pip.
